During the season of Lent, St. Paul’s will have the opportunity to explore what it means to pray by looking at three important prayers: The Lord’s Prayer, the “Peace Prayer” usually identified with St. Francis of Assisi, and the “Serenity Prayer” that was written by theologian, Reinhold Niebuhr and one that resonates powerfully for members of AA and other 12-Step programs.
Each Wednesday Evening, during Evening Prayer, we will focus on prayer as follows: Wednesdays in Lent (March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1) at 7 pm
March 4: Lord’s Prayer 1: Introduction to the Lord’s Prayer and the “Address” Our Father, who art in heaven
March 11: Lord’s Prayer Part 2:Those petitions that focus upon God Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
March 18: Lord’s Prayer Part 3: Those petitions that express our needs Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
March 25: The “Peace Prayer” (attributed to St. Francis of Assisi) Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. …
April 1: The “Serenity Prayer” (by Reinhold Niebuhr) God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference.
For those who would like to deepen how they understand and experience these prayers, the Thursday 10 AM Bible Study of the preceding week (starting Feb. 27) will offer a deep dive into each of these prayers. All are welcome to attend.
Thursday Morning Grouping
Please Join Us! All Are Welcome!
This group meets each Thursday from 10:00-2:00.We are a very dedicated group of workers that provide many hours of service for a variety of ministries here at St. Paul’s Church. The Thursday Morning Group uses our talents to create handmade items for the Church Fair. We help with whatever task needs to be done. Our workers sponsor special collections to support groups in need. All this is done each week while enjoying lunch and fellowship.
Every 3rd Tuesday at 5pm
Zachary’s Table is a free meal offered to the community and church members. On the third Tuesday of each month we gather in fellowship and friendship over a nice warm meal. Zachary’s Table is the inspiration of our member, ten-year-old Zach, who wanted to provide a hot meal to anyone who needed one and wanted it to be completely free for all who came.
Zachary’s Table will be held on. All are welcome!
